Warm-blooded and kind people of Ahvaz and the beauties of this city like Lashkar Abad (known as pepper bazaar) and date palms near the beautiful beach of Karoon attract many visitors and tourists like a magnet. There are too many bridges over this river which are another attraction for this city. The Black bridge with 1050 meters’ length and 6 meters’ width was built in 1308 on Karoon River at the same time with constructing cross-country railway in Iran. This bridge is famous as black bridge because of the color of its body. It was the first bridge in Ahvaz that connected Imam Khomeini harbor route to Khoramshar-Tehran railway. The history of his bridge returns to Pahlavi dynasty, but it is interesting to know that in Sasanid dynasty there was a bridge in the same place called Shadoovan which was destroyed and the black bridge with concrete foundation and metal structure was replaced in its place. There are two lines for crossing train on this bridge and beside each rail, there are some pavements with 1 meters’ width. In world war two, armies used this bridge to carry food, ammo and army forces. The name of this structure was registered in 1378 on Iran national heritage sites.
