Carpet museum
Iran Carpet Museum is one of the museums of Tehran province. This museum is located in the northern side of Laleh Park in Tehran. In this museum, very exquisite carpets from all over Iran by famous artists can be exhibited. This museum includes other products from the Glim family.
The museum building has an area of 3,400 square meters and its exterior decoration resembles a carpet. The architect of this museum is Abdulaziz Farmanfarmaian. The building has two halls and is used to display all kinds of handwoven carpets and rugs. The ground floor of this museum is intended for the permanent display of 150 pieces of carpets, and the second floor is intended for occasional and seasonal exhibitions.
Features of the museum
The Iranian Carpet Museum has the most valuable examples of Iranian carpets from the 9th century of Hijri to the contemporary period and is considered a rich research resource for researchers and art lovers. Usually, about 135 pieces of masterpieces of Iranian carpets, woven from important carpet weaving centers such as Kashan, Kerman, Isfahan, Tabriz, Khorasan, Kurdistan and others, are exhibited in the ground floor hall. Also, in this exhibition of exquisite Tabriz carpets, Tabriz carpet is displayed, which attracts the attention of every viewer.
About 3,500 volumes of books in Persian, Arabic, French, English and German languages are available to art lovers and researchers in the museum library. Researching the historical records, developments and quality of carpet art and industry, especially in Iran, collecting and buying samples of Iranian hand-woven carpets and holding temporary exhibitions of carpets from Iran and other parts of the world are among the museum's goals.
