Chehel sotun
Chehel sotun Palace of Isfahan is one of the historical buildings of Isfahan. The Forty Seton Palace, which has an area of more than 67,000 square meters, was built during the reign of Shah Abbas I, and a mansion was built in the middle of it. Shah Abbas I built a kiosk in the middle of the garden, which formed the initial core of the palace, which included the forty-columned middle hall and four corner pavilions. During the reign of Shah Abbas II, the building was completed and in the existing central building, general changes have been made, including the Hall of Mirrors, the Hall of 20 Columns, the two large rooms north and south of the Hall of Mirrors, the porches on the sides of the Kingdom Hall and the large pond in front of the hall with all the decorations of paintings and Mirroring and tiling of walls and ceilings have been added. At first, there were paintings instead of mirrors, but after the palace caught fire and when it was cleaned from soot, silver mirrors were used instead of mercury on part of the porch ceiling.
The central hall of the palace, which was reserved for foreign guests and personalities from other countries, contains paintings that express the historical events of different eras.
Palace building
The porch of the Forty Column Palace is composed of two parts, one part is based on 18 tall wooden columns, the middle four columns are placed on 4 stone lions and their carving is such that two lions are shown with a human head. The leap of water in the middle of the hall from the mouths of four lions located in the four corners of the pond and the stone fountains of the small atmospheric path around the palace have given this palace a special purity. The other part, which is a little higher, forms the entrance of the hall, and in some sources it is called Hall of Mirrors. This part is placed on two columns and all over it is decorated with extensive and elaborate mirror work, in which small and well-patterned mirrors are used in a mosaic form next to tall and clay mirrors. The ceiling of the porch is also decorated with various paintings that are enclosed in delicate wooden frames in different geometric shapes. The image of the marble pool in the middle of the porch can be seen in the ceiling decorations. This comparison is very similar to Ivan Ali Qapo.
