Kohsaran hill stone cemetery

The ancient culture of Ahvaz has precious treasures, each of which is a symbol of Iranian identity and authenticity. Kohsaran hill stone cemetery is the center of tourism, history and culture of this city, which was restored and revived since 2013; But it dates back to 1500 years ago. Asiyeabad and Kohsaran hills are the remains of the ancient city of Ardeshir Hormoz from the Sassanid era, which is located near the shore of the Karun River and next to the Kohsaran Park. In this cemetery, the ancient graves that date back to the 80s have attracted the attention of archaeologists from a historical and geological point of view, and a good opportunity has been provided for research and investigation of these people or interested tourists. These stone tombs, which are known as "Studans", mean the graves in which Iranians used to bury their dead in the past to return to nature after decomposition. This concept is very valuable for Iranian culture and for this reason it has been registered in the national register due to the efforts of cultural figures. This place is famous for the roof of Ahvaz, and when standing on the top of Kohsaran hill, a pleasant view of the Karun River and Ahvaz Park is pleasing to the eye.
